Get to know our co-leads


Dana is a graduate research assistant in the Transportation Systems Planning and Analysis program at Northwestern University. Her research is quite interdisciplinary, and it revolves around advancing modeling methodologies to better understand traffic dynamics encompassing both human drivers and autonomous vehicles, analyzing the economic opportunities and environmental impacts of urban air mobility, and decarbonization of freight operations. She also holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a certificate in Railroad Engineering. Dana is a first-generation student and is deeply passionate about access to education and equal opportunities in professional development and employment. Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Dana enjoys extreme sports like bungee jumping and skydiving, and admires the art of stand-up comedy as a way for cultural enrichment.

Lamisa Sheikh Co-Lead

Lamisa is an engineer for the North America Microgrid Hub at Schneider Electric. She earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she was a member of the E3 Lab (Energy, Environment & Economic Decision Making Lab). Her aspiration is to further her path in sustainable energy, ensuring it is equitable and accessible for all. Outside of the office she enjoys cooking, reading, and indoor cycling classes! She has been a member of SWE since her first year of college and is on the SWE core team for the Schneider Electric Professional Chapter. Her goal in working with the first-generation affinity group is to support other first generation students and professionals navigate entrance into an engineering career, while also fostering community engagement for this affinity group!
