Dr. Deborah DeMania Whitis joined GE Aerospace in Evendale, Ohio in 1995 after a B.S.M.E. from University of Illinois, and an M.S.M.E. from MIT. While at GE Aerospace, she received an M.S. in Materials Science from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Virginia. She has held roles in Material Development, Systems Engineering, Component Design, Stress Analysis, Life Management, and Additive Manufacturing. In 2019 she became the first female Executive Chief Consulting Engineer for GE Aerospace. She is active in her local South Ohio SWE section, serving as Outreach Chair from 2022-2024, and is the SWE Executive Sponsor for GE Aerospace in the SWE Corporate Partnership Council (CPC).
